Monsoon Season: What Does Monsoon Season Mean for Your Air Conditioner in Arizona?

Summer is here and as the wind is shifting which causes our well-known monsoon season here in Phoenix, Arizona.

The drastic changes in the direction of the wind cause higher moisture content in the air that may have an affect on your air conditioning inside your home. During monsoon season, the moisture outside is increased due to the rain and humidity, which can result in higher moisture levels inside your home. Your air conditioner is constantly removing moisture from the air in order to cool your home. Indoor air humidity is ideally 40-60%. To combat the increased moisture levels, it is important to have sufficient ventilation and drainage.

A drain line is used to remove condensation from your AC unit to the outside of your home through PVC piping. Sometimes, this can get clogged causing your drain line to back up and overflow the drain pan. When this happens, you may notice water build up in your ceiling, creating drooping, wet ceilings. It is important to have your drain line cleared every couple of years to avoid damage to your home.

Airsurance offers a drain line clear service and includes a complementary safety switch that will turn off your AC unit if your drain pan becomes clogged and full which will prevent water from building up and overflowing.
